It All Started at a Festival, on a 40-Degree Day
Every brand has an origin story. Ours starts on a scorching hot day at a Sydney summer festival, somewhere between the third water refill and the fourth "are we nearly at the shade tent" debate.
We're two Sydney-based, endlessly-on-the-move friends who've spent more weekends than we can count in the sun, in the crowd, and in the queue for the misting tent. We love the music, we love the people, we love the chaos of it all. What we didn't love? Watching mates go from having the best day of their lives to sitting in the first aid tent because the heat crept up on them before anyone noticed.
That's the moment PowerUp Patches was born.
From "Let's Fix This" to "Let's Build Something for Everyone"
The first thing we made was simple: a cooling patch. Something small, wearable, and genuinely refreshing — the kind of thing you could stick on before you headed into the crowd and forget about until you needed it most. No fuss, no faff, just a bit of cooling relief built for the reality of an Aussie summer.
We tested it on ourselves first (obviously). Then our friend group. Then their friend groups. But the feedback that really got us thinking didn't come from festival mates — it came from a friend training for her first half marathon, who asked if she could use the same cooling patch on her long Sunday runs. Then a mate who works split shifts asked if we had anything for the days that just feel long. Then someone's mum wanted to know if we made anything for gardening in the Queensland sun.
That's when it clicked: the thing people actually loved wasn't "a festival product." It was a patch that fit into their day, whatever that day looked like. So we stopped thinking about PowerUp Patches as a festival brand and started building it as something much bigger — a range designed around real people, real routines, and the everyday moments that make up a life well lived.
Built for However You Move
These days, PowerUp Patches shows up in a lot more places than a festival field:
On the dance floor. Where it all started — patches designed for long days and longer nights, built to keep up with the crowd.
On the run. For the early-morning kilometres, the weekend long run, the training block that doesn't care what the weather's doing. Our patches are designed to move with you, not against you.
In everyday life. Work days, gym sessions, road trips, backyard cricket, the school run — the ordinary moments that make up most of the calendar. We wanted patches that fit into daily life as easily as they fit into a festival bag.
Different day, different patch, same idea: something small and simple that just works, so you can focus on what you're actually there for.
What We're About
We're not a lab-coat, clinical-sounding brand, and we never wanted to be. We're a couple of Sydneysiders who happen to have gotten genuinely obsessed with patch technology — the layers, the adhesives, the design of something that just works while you're busy getting on with your day.
Here's what matters to us:
Made for real life. We design and test our patches around actual conditions — festival heat, race-day nerves, back-to-back meetings, long weekends — not a sterile lab scenario that has nothing to do with your Tuesday.
No overpromising. We're upfront: PowerUp Patches are not evaluated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), and we don't claim our patches treat, prevent, cure, or medically manage anything. We're not here to make big medical claims — we're here to make good products for real days, and we'd rather be straight with you about that than oversell it.
Designed in Sydney, tested everywhere. Every product starts as an idea between us, gets refined with people who actually live the routines we're designing for — runners, festival-goers, shift workers, parents, students — and comes out the other side as something we'd genuinely put in our own bags.
Community over hype. This brand exists because a mate needed something better on a hot day, and it grew because more people kept telling us what their hot day looked like. That community-first energy is still baked into everything we make.
Where We're Headed
What started as one cooling patch is now a growing range spanning festivals, fitness, and everyday life — and we're just getting started. Every new product we launch goes through the same filter: would this genuinely earn a spot in someone's daily routine? If the answer's yes, it goes into development. If it's no, it doesn't matter how trendy the idea is — it's not happening.
